Deciding on a blender is quite a challenge, especially if the available options are incredibly solid. This is the dilemma that shoppers often face when considering blender options from Vitamix.

Shoppers are already familiar with Vitamix products and aware that they make some of the best products in the market. Vitamix’s solid reputation is reinforced by both of today’s options.

Today, I am going to highlight the differentiating features of Vitamix 5300 and Vitamix 6500. Which of these two models is better than the other, and what are some of their limitations?

Though both of these models are comparable in terms of power, functionality, and ruggedness, there exist small but crucial differences that set them apart.

When comparing them strictly on the quality of their merits, it would be fair to say that they both have qualities that appeal to specific users.

The Vitamix 6500, for instance, will appeal for users who want to pay more to get more. The Vitamix 5300, on the other hand, is suitable for those looking for a simple, functional, and budget option blender. Before I compare these models, let’s see what each model has to offer.

Similarities Between Vitamix 5300 and 6500

Applicability: What can they be used for?

The 5300 and 6500 serve the exact same purpose, and that is effectively making juices, smoothies, soups, coffees, and more. In summary, there’s no difference to what ingredients to what either of these models can blend.

C-Series Platform

The Vitamix 5300 and 6500 are based on Vitamix C-Series. The C-Series, also known as the Classic series, features Vitamix’s largest selection of reliable and timeless blenders.

The Classic Blenders are designed to offer the power and versatility you need to make blending a pleasurable experience.

However, unlike the typical C-Series models, both the Vitamix 5300 and 6500 come with a 2.2HP motor as opposed to 2.0HP. Again, rather than a 3-inch blade, both of these models come with a 4-inch blade.

In essence, it would be fair to say that both of these blenders have borrowed heavily, especially in terms of performance from the G-Series.

Dimensions

Dimension-wise, these two models are identical in numerous ways, and it would be hard to distinguish them using properties such as weight or size.

Both of these models have similar dimensions of 17.25 x 7.25 x 8.75 in, hence a suitable option for storing under most of the standard cabinets.

Besides dimension, both blenders are lightweight and come with a modest weight of 11.95. Though not the lightest in the market, its quite an average weight for the high-performance blenders.

These blenders also come with a 6-foot cord, which makes it easy for users to access even the farthest outlets. In summary, the dimensions, weight, and cord length are similar for both blenders, and they allow for easy accessibility, storage, and use.

Motor Horsepower

Both of these blenders come with an impressive 2.2 peak horsepower. The horsepower on these units is a slight upgrade from the previous Vitamix blenders, which came with a 2.0HP or even lower.

In a real-life application, the motor on these units will provide you with the seamless operation, letting you handle any ingredient you want to blend.

The motor creates enough torque to create a variety of products, including smoothies, soups, butter, to healthy ice cream. Furthermore, Vitamix uses radial fan cooling as well as thermal protection on both units, and this optimizes the performance of the motor by reducing instances of overheating.

Blades

Contrary to the typical 3-inch blades on the C-Series blenders, the Vitamix 5300 and 6500 come with longer 4-inch blades.

The new blades have been constructed longer to accommodate the larger size of the pitcher. However, the blades are still constructed using the durable hammer milled laser-cut stainless steel.

Cost

Both of these blenders are premium and high-end equipment and strictly not budget options. While they’re not expensive either, none of the options is suitable for those looking for cheap, entry-level blenders.

Differences between Vitamix 5300 and 6500

Batch Sizes

Both the Vitamix 5300 and 6500 blenders sport a 64-ounce pitcher. While both of these models have a similar pitcher sizing, Vitamix 5300 is considered medium size, while Vitamix 6500 is considered large sized. The disparity between the sizing is the shape of the container.

The 5300 model container is low profile, meaning it comes with a narrow base. As such, it keeps the ingredients in a tighter area as compared to 6500. As such, the Vitamix 5300 blender is only able to blend fewer ingredients at a time, and it’s a reason why this blender often comes with a 32-oz container.

On the other end, the 6500 features a wide container with a wide base and will let you blend more ingredients at a time. Looking at the jar differences, the 5300 is ideal if you’re looking to process medium batches more effectively.

The 6500 blenders, on the other hand, are particularly suited for blending large amounts of ingredients at a time. Either way, both of these models have a similar capacity and will hold the same volume.

The only major downside of the capacity on these blenders is they’re not ideal for small servings. The large capacity and greater cutting capacity afforded by these blenders make them ideal for use on large households.

User-Interface

The controls are where the difference between these two blenders manifests most; the control interface is what sets them apart. The Vitamix 6500 comes with pre-programmed settings. The three control settings on the 6500 blenders give it a competitive edge over 5300.

How loud are they?

Blenders are generally noisy, and that’s a fact of life. And considering the motors on these units are high powered, they tend to get noisy when in operation.

However, while both are capable of producing the same amount of power, the Vitamix 6500 is quieter than its rival.

This is because the 6500 comes with suspending housing, which, according to the manufacturer, helps to dampen the noise output as much as 40% less than the older Vitamix models.

Nonetheless, despite this, both models have a noise output of an upward of 80 decibels, and it would be safe to say they’re noisy.

How easy are they to clean?

Both the 5300 and 6500 are self-cleaning.

Prices

Vitamix 6500 is slightly more expensive than the 5300, and this is because it's an upgraded version and comes with more features than the 5300.

In particular, the pre-set controls are what probably make the 6500 a bit expensive. So, if you’re on a tight budget, the Vitamix 5300 should be a suitable choice, though you will need to compromise on the automatic operation.

Nonetheless, as we had mentioned in the interdiction, both of these models are premium choices, and the pricing is relative to each other as opposed to the industry standards.

Vitamix 5300 vs. 6500: Which is Better?

Both of these models are superb options and will satisfy the blending options for the average users. However, I think the Vitamix 6500 is a more superior option, given that it’s 40% less noisy, comes with adjustable presets, and has an extended warranty of seven years.

However, though I consider the 6500 superior option, it’s not ideal for everyone. If you’re willing to dig deep into your pockets, then go for it. However, if you’re looking for a budget option, with no frills or frays, the Vitamix 5300 will just serve you fine.
